Unexplained Underperformance Syndrome (UPS)

Overtraining is common in many sports and fitness activities. This happens when one performs more training than their body can recover from, to the point where their performance starts declining. Many highly motivated runners who are obsessed with training believe that the harder they train, the faster they'll run. Thus, many runners attempt to exert more than they can physically endure, making it very difficult to fully recover from the standard two to three buffer days. Many runners unintentionally overtrain until they reach the chronic phase when they grind to a halt and need several weeks of recovery.
