The National Defence Academy (NDA) is a unique and pioneering Tri-Service Academy of the World, training Male and Female Cadets for all three Services. Aptly regarded as the Cradle of Military Leadership, since its inception in 1948, the Academy has trained more than 38000 Cadets including 1000 Cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries. The NDA has given Independent India two CDS, 14 Army Chiefs, 12 Navy Chiefs and 10 Air Chiefs. Its alumni have distinguished themselves on and off the battlefield, living up to its famous adage 'Seva Parmo Dharma'.

Nestled at Khadakwasla, Pune in the foothills of the Sahyadri Ranges, the Academy is spread over a sprawling 6000 acres, abundant with forests, water bodies, wildlife and flora and fauna, facilitating befitting education, training, leadership and character development in a naturally calming and serene environment. It experiences pleasant weather throughout the year with temperatures ranging between 20 to 28 Degrees Celsius, and Monsoons lasting from June to September.

Cadets at NDA undergo an extremely rigorous and challenging training regimen, unique and unparalleled in its design, conduct and philosophy, comprising an Educational Degree, Physical and Outdoor Training, Sports, Leadership Training and Training in Service and Joint Service Aspects.

The Academy is scrupulously maintained and provides unimpeded access for training and recreational activities of varied nature for all its Cadets and Staff.

Commemorating 75 Glorious Years of its inception, NDA's journey marks its conjoined and ascendant trajectory with that of Independent India, which has recently celebrated its Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, and which continues to repose its trust on the Academy for producing future officers responsible for its Security, Stability, Integration and Nation Building, as it stands firmly poised on its path of Greatness and its vision of becoming the Vishwa Guru in the global comity of Nations.

The commemoration also signifies the constantly evolving and vibrant character of NDA which has embraced Women into its Folds and is on course to produce World Class Female Leaders, who will assume the mantle of leadership of the three Armed Services, possessing futuristic technology and world class Human Resources, whilst living upto its founding ideals of Seva Parmo Dharma.
