🌊 About Dudhsagar 🌊
Dudhsagar is a stunning four-tiered waterfall located in the Western Ghats of India. It is one of the most prominent and beautiful waterfalls in the country. Situated on the Mandovi River in the state of Goa, near the border with Karnataka, the name "Dudhsagar" means ‘sea of milk’. The milky appearance of the water as it cascades down the rocky tiers resembles a stream of milk.
🏰 Mythical Story 🏰
The name "Sea of Milk" for Dudhsagar Waterfall comes from a myth. The story goes that a princess, the daughter of the king of the Ghats, used to bathe in a nearby lake. She and her maidens would drink milk from a jug. One day, a prince was crossing the lake and stopped upon hearing the laughter of the princess and her maidens. To protect her honor, the maidens poured the jug of milk into the water around her. Hence the name “Dudhsagar”.
